Sadly infertility is a big problem and it seems to be getting worse all the time. Many specialist will test the man first when it comes to determining the problem as the male infertility tests are less complicated than the woman’s. Some men will go through the male infertility tests for that reason, of course they want to find out what and where the problems are. The first thing a man should do is get a complete physical, that means from top to bottom. This will allow any problems to be seen and might be corrected before going on to other tests.
Many doctors will consider finding out about the man’s family history at the top of the list when trying to determine what is causing the infertility. They want the man to be honest and up front, if he is not, they cannot help him to be able to produce a child. Questions such as when they started puberty, if the man has any sexually transmitted diseases; and any uses of lubricants, researchers have found some have killed the sperm and thus making the sperm count low.
One of the first male infertility tests might be an exam of the man’s external reproductive organs. This will find if there are any testicular irregularities, including but not limited to finding an absence of a sperm duct that is known to carry the sperm from the testes into the urethra during ejaculation. The doctor will also run a test to see if there are any tumours.
Other male infertility tests might include a testicle biopsy.
Vasograms – this is when the doctor might suspect a blockage in the reproductive duct, a sperm count test is always given.
Although these tests can become expensive, men should check with their insurance companies as some will cover the cost. A lot of men must realize that to be able to produce a child, they need to give up their egos and get the tests done.
